Godfather RPG Rules & Regulations NOTICE: VERY IMPORTANT Empty
PostSubject: Godfather RPG Rules & Regulations NOTICE: VERY IMPORTANT   Godfather RPG Rules & Regulations NOTICE: VERY IMPORTANT Icon_minitimeFri Nov 02, 2007 2:00 pm

1. This room is based on Mario Puzo's best-selling novel The Godfather ® You are welcome to observe and ask questions. You will be invited to join the role-play once your character has been approved as a valid Godfather® character. PLEASE view our Character Creation section.

2. All guests are welcome to come and role-play as long as they come in peace. But once that peace has been broken, you will receive:

a. A warning.

b. Asked to Leave.

c. Be Kicked Or Reported.
NO Avatar of Registered Character may be used, by anyone other than the Registered Character.

3. Respect is a MUST, at all times you must show respect to your Don's and Peers Admins, Moderators Guest ect... We are all equals in this room. No one player is any better or worse than any other player. Characters are only characters, they are not who you are. Your actions, imagination, and improvisation skills determine who and what your characters are and can be.

A lack of respect will gain you a probationary period. If no respect is shown after the probationary period then you will be removed from the room.

4. Every Prospective New Member will add an ~o~ tag after your name to indicate you are observing and would like to join the room . Observers should watch and ask questions in private and not interfere with the role players that don't wish to include them, But if the Registered Players/Typists wish to include them, the observer is more then welcome to interact. Then when you feel comfortable, request permission to join in the role playing. You must prove your value as a role player, much like people wishing to join the Mafia had to do to be made men. This can be a lot of fun if you understand and role play the theme correctly.

5. All Kills must be at least THREE post unless otherwise stated. This includes NPC's You will be permitted to create another character for use in Godfather's. The character must be approved by The Administrator..

6. Post with Respect and Honor at all times. Respect all players at all times NO EXCEPTIONS!!! Remember however, that in character respect is something that is earned, not given freely. Do not take an in character situation to OOC situations.

7. PLEASE, do not PM to somebody in the room unless they send you the post offering help and granting permission for this. We all try to help, but are often involved in role playing when a new person enters. Wait a few minutes at the bar and somebody should offer assistance.

8. This is a ROLE-PLAYING chat room. No OOC characters or anonymous characters will be recognized. If you want to make an OOC comment, other then those related directly to the role play, take it into PM. Do not waste our role play time with OOC chatting, especially if a roleplay is occuring. Ignorance of these rules is no excuse. Any abuse of these rules will result in a warning to take to PM. If they don't comply they can be removed from the room by a moderator.

10. Keep your RP characters separate from the Real Life player. DO NOT take Role-Play situations into OCC and other chatrooms.

11. If at any time a player/typist chooses to leave the Family, no matter the reason, they must petition the Room Owners to come back to the Family and re-join roleplay. If they leave in peace, of course they are welcome to visit the Don's often and are, in fact, encouraged to.

12. Registered Players/Typists may have 4 characters. In order to have a character, a player/typist must complete a character template on the board and wait for approval that way we know who is playing an NPC and they won't just pop up out of no where. Minor NPC's (Such as very low level hoods, cops, etc.) are not required to have a character sheet.

13. Your character will not be allowed to return or live again if you ok'd for your character to die, or if your character died in a roleplay. This is NOT a soap opera, where you can die and then be back a year later. Also, roleplay injuries realistically. If a character gets shot, they will not be operating at full speed the next day and so on.

14. Please respect other players/typists and don't always drag a character into a storyline or plot if that character is busy. At the same time, when roleplaying please realize that situations can occur in the storyline which may cause a player/typist's plans to change. Improvisation and imagination are keys to a successful, enjoyable roleplay, and remember, the roleplays which occur are not predetermined.

15. Several groups reside within the city. This is not the home of just the La Tora Family , but many. However, If this is your first visit to The Areas, be prepared for upheaval, violence and power struggles. Also, any mass destruction or killings are not allowed. If you MUST blow things up be sure to limit it to one or two small buildings.

16. The mention of Omertà , La Cosa Nostra , Mafia or any other term that represents the fact that your character is a "member" can be cause alone for that character's DEATH.

17. Female Characters are not "officially" recognized as being in a "family" such as:

A. They will not hold an official position in the Family:

Capo Crimini/capo de tutti capi (super boss/bosses of bosses)

Consigliere(advisor/family counselor)

Capo Bastone (underboss, 2nd in command)

Caporegime or Capodecima (lieutenant, typically heads a faction of 10 or more soldiers comprising a "crew")

Sgarrista(a foot soldier who carries out day to day business of the family. A "made" member of the mafia)

B. They are able to run business that are tied in with the "Family Business" Remember though, that the mention of "the mafia" can result in negative consequences for all of those involved.

C. They can handle certain types of "hits". For example, a bedroom assassin, but they are not officially "made". Also, by all means a woman character can defend herself against anyone else, they aren't all just helpless dames in a world ran by ruthless mean men.

18. Time Frame: One Role-Play day equals one Real Time day. Pregnancies do NOT happen in one month in this roleplay.

19. Most importantly ...above all else...HAVE FUN... this is a role-playing room and we are here for the purpose of being a close knit family full of friends and pal's while we have our role-playing games. If at any point in time this is no longer fun for you please reach The Administrator and relay this to him. You will be free to leave with no ill will. Your happiness is what is important above all else.

If you stop for a second and think about what's happening around you, the room will be a better place for it. Senior members don't always have time to stop and talk to everyone.

Observers don't always understand what is happening. Some people don't like being dragged into things, and others don't like being left out.

Not everyone wants to hear what happened to everybody else today, or listen to an argument. Keep interruptions short and appropriate - everything else belongs in PM.

Character rules for "Made" and Non Made characters

These rules are simple, and so are the reasons behind them. Let me explain.

Rule Number One: Obedience

This is all about respect. Always do what your boss tells you. He's the boss for a good reason, so do what he says. The boss is the only one who can give the order to whack someone or make someone. If you've got a beef with someone, don't go thinking that you have the right to get rid of the problem yourself. Keep your cool, think with your head and stay smart. You take your beef to the next sit down and let the boss decide. Always do what he says, and nothing more. Don't start any fights you can't win.

Rule Number Two: Loyalty

Always remain loyal to members of the Family. Your Family always comes first, no exceptions. So be a team player. Don't get in the way of each other's interests. Be prepared to defend the Family with your life. An attack on any member should be considered an attack on all members, to be avenged no matter what. Also, remember that other Families are family, too. You are expected to help out any faction in need, unless that faction is at war with your Family, in which case they are to be treated as mortal enemies. At least until your Don says otherwise, then you can play nice.

Rule Number Three: Honor

This one is simple, and ties into the first two rules. Basically, just be a stand-up guy. Keep your eyes and ears open and your mouth shut. When you see something that's not your business, don't see it. Keep your mouth shut. If you hear things not mean for you, don't hear them. Don't be a babbo. Mind your own business.

Rule number four: Pride

If you take pride in your business and your Family, the rest comes naturally. Be a man of honor and always do right by your Family. Remember that in Sicily (God bless), the word “mafia” was once used to describe individuals of pride, excellence, grace and self-confidence. Try and live up to it, for chrissakes. Respect women and your elders. Try to have some class.

Rule number five: Silence

Now this is the big one. The sacred oath of Omertà. This basically means silence, but the word “Omertà” was once used to describe manliness. So never discuss Family business. Never have any dealings with authorities under any circumstances. Don't be an informer. Remember, no one likes a rat, unless it's a dead rat. You are to keep the identities and activities of Family members secret at all costs. Violation of this code is punishable by death. Nobody's going to give you a pass on this one, so don't go wagging your tongue unless you want to die.

Those are most of the rules. For your sake, I hope you can remember them. Hey, and if you are not a legitimate member of the Family, don't go thinking that now that you know this stuff, you can hang with the wiseguys. It don't work like that. We've seen plenty of empty suits come along trying act smart, as if they were made men. Empty suits should be hung out to dry... if you know what I mean. So if you think you're some kinda cugine looking to get his button, you'd better just take my advice and button your lip. The books are closed. Get my meaning? You want to apply these rules to your own life, that's fine. Live a life of honor and respect, but do it away from the Family. You understand, goombah?
